AOL account is not connecting/synchronizing

Reported by Era Shevtsova | December 18th, 2016 @ 11:54 AM

Hi,
I am trying out the MailMate for free to see if it suits me. Out of all my account all gmail ones have connected and synchronized while the AOL account is empty. It does not synchronize and it does not show even one email, just and empty window. Please help.
Thank you!
Era

Do you get any error messages for this account?

Do you see a spinner next to the account which would indicate that MailMate tries to connect?

If yes to the latter then try this:

    • Open the Activity Viewer (⌥⌘0). This enables logging.
    • Take the AOL account offline and then online (select it under SOURCES and use the Mailbox menu).
    • Wait a bit for it to give up or report an error.
    • Use “Help ▸ Send Server Logs”.

    Thanks in advance.

    Thank you Benny!
No, there is no error messages, the password is also correct (I checked). When I right click on the account name and then click "synchronize" the spinner is shown for 1 or maximum 2 seconds and that's all. Nothing happens. I tried to take the account offline and then online. Nothing.

Ok, send me the logs. The short appearance of the spinner should mean that something does happen -- even though it's failing quickly.

Also in the folder INBOX which consolidates all the accounts each email is doubled. Every time I receive an email (no matter which account) it is shown as I received 2 identical emails. How do I get rid of those doubles?

How do I send you the log? Sorry, I am not a technical person

I provided step-by-step instructions in my first reply. Try following those.

Also, what are you AOL IMAP settings?

    IMAP server: imap.aol.com port 993
    SMTP Server: smtp.aol.com port 587

The duplicates are caused by you accidentally adding the same account twice with different IMAP settings (MailMate cannot see it's the same account). Look under SOURCES and use the Mailbox menu to remove any duplicates.

The AOL account appears to fail because of the password. Do you perhaps have two-factor verification enabled for this account? In this case, you need an application specific password to access it via IMAP. More about that here.
