Weird HELO causes my SMTP server to reject.

Nov 25 11:28:16 hubris postfix/smtpd[3574]: connect from
lust.example.com[10.98.84.1]
Nov 25 11:28:16 hubris postfix/smtpd[3574]: NOQUEUE:
reject: RCPT from lust.example.com[10.98.84.1]: 554 5.7.1
<contact@cendio.se>: Relay access denied;
from=<dap@example.com> to=<contact@cendio.se>
proto=ESMTP helo=<[10.98.100.1]>
When I send from lust
to hubris
the
HELO used is not the IF addr used to send the message.
The 10.98.100.1 address cannot be being used, as there is no VLAN
path setup. The correct return address is as is seen in the
RCPT
.
Even though I have added the 10.98.100.8 interface on
lust
so that postfix adds the 10.98.100.0/24 to the
'mynetworks' list, I still get the reject.
I assume this is because I have not setup a reverse mapping for
10.98.100.1
.
How do I get MailMate to supply the correct HELO?

Turns out I do have the reverse DNS correctly setup. At least on
hubris
.lust
is a mac, so precisely what it is doing for any particular process at any given time is a mystery.MailMate needs to get the HELO hostname it presents correct, not choose an arbitrary interface address.
For the time being, I have been forced back to Mail.app, as much of my email will be sent thru
hubris

Never mind. Although the HELO is bogus, it was not the reason for the reject.

Ok. For the record, MailMate has some hidden settings to force the value used,
MmSMTPFixedIP
andMmSMTPFixedHostname
.
