MailMate mangling textfile attachments with really long lines

Reported by Alexander Pierce | October 27th, 2016 @ 08:06 PM

Find attached two files. One, the file I originally sent. Two, the file I received from mailmate. Mail.app truncates, whereas my webmail client merely has a break in the middle.

Looking to buy Mailmate but this is a problem as I regularly need to send files like this.

NOTE: file truncated so it is not a valid license in either case... but truncated well after the split.

This is not entirely clear to me. Could you use “Help ▸ Send Feedback” to send me an example email that MailMate generated (you can drag it onto the composer to attach it)?

As a quick test I created a file with a very long line. I then attached to an email. This was encoded using quoted-printable which I believe should work in all receiving email clients. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what fails for you.

Also, the ticket system is public. If the license text is sensitive in any way then you should delete the attachments in this ticket (or I can do it for you).

Ok.. sent feedback with generated email. The issue seems to occur when I attach this file (line length ~1700 characters) to Markdown formatted emails in Mailmate. This is not an issue with Gmail and Markdown Here plugin.

Thanks, this helped track down a bug. MailMate did not behave correctly when attaching a text file in which only the last line (could be the only line) was “too long” and the line did not end with a newline character.

Hold down ⌥ when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update to try out a fix for this bug (r5294).
