Cannot import an Exchange server mail account

I'm pretty sure that our IT service department does't allow for IMAP on the Microsoft Exchange server (Response from Service Desk: "Add an exchange account, not an imap-account"). The exchange account shows up in Apple Mail but this account is not available for Import from the Import Accounts. Any ideas? I'd like to use Mailmate but need this to work.

    Sorry, MailMate does not support Exchange servers without IMAP enabled.

    A workaround could be forwarding all emails to an IMAP account (and configure this in MailMate to use the Exchange SMTP server to send messages). Another workaround involves a proxy such as davmail.
