Feature Request: search via URI, applescript or both
Reported by Ryuji Suzuki | September 2nd, 2016 @ 03:52 PM
Suppose I have many clients, one of which John at john@johnemail.com. I manage past communications with these people in my home made CRM but use MailMate for email. When I have John's profile on CRM open and want to look into the past communication history, I need to have a way to look up all emails between me and John on MailMate. But right now there is no good way to do this other than copying the email address, pasting it in the search window on MailMate and hit return. I would like to see an easy way to do this via mailto: URI. Might it be done by mailto:john@johnemail.com?search or better yet mailto:search="a john@johnemail.com" or something similar enabling use of search modifiers that work in the toolbar search.
If the same can be done via applescript that would be great, too, but 99% of what I want to do can be done via a simple interface outlined above.

I know you have other things but I thought to give this a bump comment... I'm really looking forward to seeing this...

Something like this should work in the next update:
open "mlmt:quicksearch?string=appleseed"
Here,
appleseed
can be any string you could have used in the toolbar search field. Remember to URL encode=&%
since this might later allow more parameters, e.g.,mailbox=
.I'll await your feedback before documenting this feature.

Hold down ⌥ when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane to try this feature.

This got me 1.9.5 (r5263) but this feature doesn't seem to be implemented. No matter what the string is, MailMate window gets highlighted but nothing happens.

I think you missed the part about holding down the option/alt key (⌥). You should get r5289.
