Preview appears without rhyme or reason
Reported by Michael A Osborne | September 2nd, 2016 @ 10:02 AM
Since upgrading to 5260 yesterday, I've encountered a minor but annoying bug. When composing a markdown message without the Preview window visible, it will occasionally spontaneously appear. I'm yet to discover a pattern to explain why and when this appearance occurs: any suggestions much appreciated!

I should have added that I'm on El Capitan, V10.11.6 (15G31).

The new behavior of MailMate is to only show the Preview whenever HTML is generated. This can happen for a variety of reasons, but primarily when Markdown is used. You can control this behavior in the Composer preferences pane (the alternatives are 'always' and 'never').
Let me know if that does not answer your question.

Thanks for the extraordinarily prompt response! This does indeed explain things: not a bug at all :)
Might I cheekily suggest some slight changes in behaviour, however? For a given message, it might make sense to have the explicit toggling of the preview window (e.g. From the view/layout menu) temporarily override the "when generating HTML" option for this preference: that is, if a user explicitly hides the window, or activates it, perhaps it should stay that way.
Thanks as always for the excellent product.
