Flag icon toolbar state
Reported by Florian Schulze | February 11th, 2016 @ 04:13 PM
It would be nice if the icon for the flag button in the toolbar would change state depending on the current message. Especially in the message view, the mailbox view would be nice too, but it might be harder (what happens when multiple messages are selected).

- State changed from new to closed
I'm afraid that would be somewhat non-standard OS X behavior (toolbar). At least in my mind :-)
I strongly suggest learning a shortcut to toggle the flag. If you use flags then it's a very frequent action.
You can map a tag to the IMAP keyword
\Flagged
(in the Tags preferences pane). Then it should show up in the headers view as well. -

Mail.app has exactly my described behaviour, so I don't think it's non standard.
It's mostly necessary for the message view, because if you change the flag there in whatever way, you don't see the current state, you only see that in the mailbox view. Same for read/unread actually, you don't see that in the message view.

Hmm, I'm not seeing that on El Capitan. Instead the flag is part of the headers (similar to what I suggested with the Tags workaround).
I had forgotten it was different on earlier OS X releases (if that is why you don't see the same as I do).

I'm working on a rewrite of the headers view. I'll note that it would be nice if the flag appeared by default without the Tags workaround.

Ah well, I switched to MailMate while using Yosemite, so I didn't notice they changed it :)
