mailto:, mail signature and S/MIME signature

Reported by Mike | December 4th, 2015 @ 08:09 AM

When I generate a new mail via mailto:-URI I have to click into the to-address field to get inserted the mail and S/MIME signature. And sometimes I forget to do this… :-/

I think this should be done automatically. It would also be nice if I could force the use of a specific mail and S/MIME signature in the mailto:-URI.

Isn't it sufficient to just tab to the next header field?

You can force a specific sender using from as described here.

Sometimes I have to send >20 mails automatically generated und triggered by a Keyboard Mestro macro. It would be nice to be able just to send, after checking the mail.

You can force a specific sender using from as described here.

    I use this already:

    open "mailto:$KMVAR_toAddress?from=$KMVAR_fromAddress&subject=$KMVAR_subject&body=$KMVAR_body"

When I have the mail signature (the -- part) in the autogenerated mail and I click into the mail body (in the composer window) MailMate appends a second signature. MailMate should not append a signature automatically if I have written one "manually". Sometimes I start to write a mail with the "wrong" from address and when I change the address MailMate changes or appends the signature. Maybe it should ask if I want this?

(Sometimes I have to need to change the signature by hand but it is not worth to define this signature in the settings as this will end in too much slightly different signatures which I need very rarely).

And my request is to be able to specify a signature in the mailto-URI. Something like "sig=.

Ok, I understand the automation issue. I'll look into making it auto-update.

The signature issue is a bit tricky. One could argue that MailMate should never auto-add a signature when using the mailto: scheme, but some users would likely dislike this. I'll give this some thought and consider the signature option.
