Regression: Gmail losing synchronisation often after 1.9.3 update

Reported by Antti Honkela | November 5th, 2015 @ 07:36 AM

After upgrading to 1.9.3 with the new Gmail authentication mechanism, Gmail seems to have been losing synchronisation quite regularly. Previously it was working much better.

I think this may be linked to making the computer sleep or moving to a different network.

Sorry for the vague report: this is just a very annoying regression and I wanted to report it as soon as possible.

Thanks!

Antti

Thanks for the report. I've seen once that MailMate stopped synchronizing anything within a Gmail account except the INBOX, but I couldn't reproduce it after relaunching MailMate. Is this what you are seeing?

If it happens relatively often then you are good candidate for debugging. First step: Have you tried disabling OAuth2 in the IMAP account settings? Does that fix the issue?

I just started having a problem with updating at least one of my accounts (but not others). They're all using OAuth. I'm getting errors like these in Console:

11/6/15 10:10:28.810 AM MailMate[4156]: [Accounts] Failed to update account with identifier C42D55CC-7D79-43A6-A1FB-8A7688DBAF6B, error: Error Domain=ABAddressBookErrorDomain Code=1002 "(null)"

Disabling OAuth seems to fix it.

@Matt: Did it match what I described? The INBOX is synchronized, but not the other mailboxes? I think I'm able to reproduce this, but it's a bit tricky. I do expect to be able to fix it though and then I'll update this ticket. If it's a different issue then please share some details (relaunching MailMate always fixes the issue I've seen myself).

Please try the latest test release and let me know if this issue has not been fixed: Hold down ⌥ when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane.
