Slider moves to bottom of mail list

I find that whenever I do a search and then return to the full unfiltered mail list, the slider and the focus has moved to the bottom of the open mail list. Thus it gives me the oldest email in my list which is usually the opposite of what I want. Since I keep quite a bit of mail in my main list this means I have to spend time moving the focus back up the whole list. I would prefer that the focus after a search went to the email that was in focus before the search. Or that it was something that was configureable.
