Unable to verify iCloud certificate

I often get this dialog box popping up for my iCloud mail account:
MailMate was unable to verify the identity of "imap.mail.me.com"
I don't get the same thing from Mail.app. I don't use that account much, and clicking Connect lets me continue, so it's not a big issue, but let me know if there's anything I can do to help debug it!

I've seen this myself a few times, but it does not happen every time. It's kind of weird. I wonder if the server actually returns the same certificate every time.
You can click “Show Certificate” and tell it to always accept this certificate, but I'm not even sure that doing this persists.
Let me know if you see some kind of interesting pattern to this behavior.
