Rules on inboxes

Reported by Andreas Jung | May 1st, 2015 @ 02:05 PM

With the default smart mailbox "INBOX" I create create email rules for "INBOX" but not for the inboxes being displayed under "INBOX" (in my case the index of two accounts):

Both inboxes don't have an "edit mailbox" open.

I can use "edit mailbox" directly on the related Inboxes show in the trees for both accounts.

So there is one usability problem here: being unable to edit mail rules directly on the inbox of one account from the smart mailbox view (except you scroll through the folder lists of your account and search for the releated Inbox).

Another issue or perhaps misfeature: mail rules are usually applied in the context of one account. Being able to edit rules on the smart inboxes folder does not make much sense in reality - unless you want to keep your rules for all incoming emails for all accounts in one central place.

I'm actually not sure why I haven't already improved this, but unless I've forgotten some detail then it should be fairly easy to improve. Each submailbox of “Inbox” is equivalent to an INBOX under SOURCES in the mailbox outline. I should simply open the mailbox editor for that one. (Eventually, it should also be an option to hide these “duplicate” mailboxes under SOURCES -- like seen in most other email clients.)

In other words, add your rules to the INBOX'es found under SOURCES. When I've fixed this then you should also be able to get to these rules by editing the mailboxes directly under the universal Inbox.
