Enhancements for once-a-day workflow
Reported by larrycz | April 11th, 2015 @ 04:02 PM
A few enhancements would be needed in order to support workflows where email is only fetched a couple of times a day, staying offline all the time in between the fetches (reducing the distraction of incoming email when just working with the email client searching and retrieving old messages).
Apple Mail already suits these workflows quite well. After "taking all accounts offline", outgoing email is queued for sending at the next available online opportunity. There are glitches however, such as the failure to stop Gmail messages from going out while offline.
The specific enhancements include:
-
Add keybindings/commands for "take all offline" and "take all online"
-
Prevent automatic take-online (while offline on request) on a network connection down-up event
-
Introduce or emulate an outbox folder showing messages queued for sending (currently messages appear in the sent folder)
-
Allow editing of messages queued for sending (currently editing a message in the sent folder currently appears to cause sending both the original and edited message)
-
Fix behaviour of deleted queued messages (currently it seems a deleted queued message is still sent)
