Feature Request: Bookmark bar.
Reported by Scott A. McIntyre | February 26th, 2015 @ 06:48 AM
One of the really useful features of Mail.app is that it has a "Bookmark Bar" - that permits folders to be dragged and dropped upon it and serves as a convenient shortcut to accessing frequently used folders. The bookmarks also support folders and smart-folders, providing even more flexible ways to get around. It would be great if MailMate could support such a Bookmark Bar. I realise the Smart Folders can be used to create a shortcut way of getting to favourite folders, but, with more horizontal screen real estate than vertical, it would make more sense to use something like a Bookmark Bar for this feature.

I agree this would be useful. The main problem is that I try not to spend too much time on custom GUI elements — Apple does not provide anything to implement this feature. Some non-Apple alternatives exist, but I'm not sure they provide all that would be needed to do this (including drag'n'drop organization).
Of course, you always have ⌘T as an alternative for quickly switching between mailboxes.

Understood - I don't code, so have no idea how tough it is to add a new "View" option which could include a narrow strip that operates similar to your Folder View, but, horizontally laid out and with only a subset of folders -- likely a real headache or you'd have done it in 10 minutes. ;-) I'd be happy without drag-and-drop if there was a panel that could be brought up to add the folders of interest and prioritise them. Even if it meant that saving changes meant restarting MailMate...

I've already noted that a first step could be a simple variant without drag'n'drop.
