MailMate 1.9 hangs when sending
Reported by Benjamin Stiglitz | February 24th, 2015 @ 09:13 PM
After this Monday’s update MailMate always hangs for me after sending a message; sample attached.
FWIW I BCC: myself on all sent messages.

It's not a known issue. The sample indicates that the problem is not sending. The problem is related to synchronization with the IMAP server. Maybe after uploading the message to Draft or Sent Messages.
Does it crash if you simply save the draft (⌘S)?
What about receiving messages in general? Moving messages?
It is likely I'll need to make a debug build to find out what happens, but it won't be before tomorrow. You can fetch the latest 32 bit build here.

It does eventually send, it just takes a few minutes. I’ll try saving a Draft after my latest hang resolves and let you know.

Thanks, it appears it is a performance issue then. How many messages do you have (estimated)?
Enable the following in the Terminal:
defaults write com.freron.MailMate TimersEnabled -bool YES
And then launch and send a message:
/Applications/MailMate.app/Contents/MacOS/MailMate
Send the output via “Help ▸ Send Feedback” since it might contain email addresses or other somewhat personal data.
Thanks in advance!

Saving a draft doesn’t hang. I have ~900 messages in my main INBOX, almost 300k total. This is new to build 5066, by the way.
I just remembered that I tried to make a Smart Mailbox based on Date and it had hung while trying to do that. I had force-quit after about a minute and switched to Date-Received on the mailbox. Things seemed OK, and I couldn’t see Date in the conditions for that mailbox, but after deleting and recreating it without ever stopping on Date it looks like things are better now.

- State changed from new to resolved
Apparently this smart mailbox was saved and its computation triggered when sending a message. Do you remember the search condition?
Given 300K messages, it is certainly possible to create a very slow search, but it would be nice see if it was something I could resolve.
I'll close the ticket, but additional comments are welcome.
