Feature request: Colored searched words

I would like to have a feature which marks search hits. Maybe with an yellow background. Additionally there could be markers in the vertical scroll bar like in many IDEs or in Firefox with FastestSearch-Plugin. Hits in the mail list (top right pane in the default 3-panes-layout) could also be colorized.
This would help a lot on searches over large mails.

That would be wonderful,
and exactly what i would need,
especially when browsing through logs!Maybe even changeing the FontColor
of the search hit to red? -

@Mike: Sorry about the late reply.
I've looked into this in the past, but I did not find an easy way to do it. I might have missed something though either in the Webkit API or elsewhere. Quickly googling seems to indicate that it's non-trivial. You are welcome to share any other references you find.
This doesn't mean that it's not possible or that I don't want this feature. It just appears to be too much work at this time.
