Signature, From, and attachment dropdown buttons are empty when using Fira Sans as System Font in Yosemite

When using the Fira Sans System Font Replacement, the Signature, From, and Attachment dropdown buttons in the Compose Message window are empty.

I am using the Fira Sans replacement font for Helvetica Neue on my installation of Yosemite.

In general, this seems to work just fine, but something goes wrong in the Compose Message window. The dropdown buttons show nothing. One is still able to use them dropdowns to select different accounts and signatures, etc. But, you can't see what there current values are. I've included a couple of screenshots (one with Fira Sans and one with Helvetica Neue) that should illustrate the problem.

I understand that changing the system font is not what everyone does and not officially supported. But, it would be nice if the MailMate could work with this (it seems to be the only issue I've found when using this font). Perhaps this is a bug with the font tables in Fira Sans, but I suspect we need to check MailMate first. If it is a bug in the font, I'll gladly try and see what I can do on my end to fix and submit a patch to the FiraSystemFontReplacement project.

    The plan is to completely replace the composer status bar with standard OS components (for various reasons including accessibility). That is very likely to also fix this issue. I cannot give you a time frame though.

    Ah, I didn't know those were non-standard controls. Moving to standard controls should indeed fix the problem.

    I noticed today that attachments are of course also affected by this as well. One needs to do a couple of clicks to see make sure you've attached something. I'll see how many times I've bitten by that.

    Otherwise, if I could force the font in the dropdowns, that could tide me over in the meantime.
