Free search in all fields

I switched from Apple's Mail.app.
A feature I miss is a completely free search in all fields, where
keywords are automatically combined with an AND.
For example, I tried to search for an email where I remembered that it is from "John", talking about a meeting about "evaluation" in room "2401". I'd like to search for "john evaluation 2401", but implementing the search needs many clicks in Mailmate, defining all the search fields, etc. Furthermore, when I switch to "Common Headers or Body" and type in multiple keywords, they do not seem to work in an AND fashion.

Your description is very accurate and I do plan to add a “Quick Search” interface (like a toolbar search field). I expect it to be very flexible and by default it should behave as you describe.
I cannot give you a time frame, but at least I am aware of the weaknesses of the current interface :-)
I'll track any progress on this feature in this ticket.
