Threaded sorting behavior changed and crash when changing layouts

Using 1.8 r5030 64-bit and I've got two issues with this build:

Whenever I attempt to change the layout, MailMate crashes. Benny, I'm sure you've already received the crash reports so I won't attach them here.

The sorting seems to have been modified. I use threading, and I was used to a new message coming into an existing thread forcing the entire thread up to the top of the list. With r5030, this doesn't happen. The thread stays sorted where it originally came in (i.e. the date of the start of the thread). This can cause the message to appear offscreen in the list. Is this an intended change in behavior?

Thanks Steve. I've pulled the update. It's an unintended change of behavior and it should of course not crash.
I'm still optimizing/changing the threading code and I'll look into these issues as well.
