Unable to preview or save a PDF attachment
Reported by mariow | March 11th, 2011 @ 10:06 AM
In a mail with an attached pdf (disposition: inline) the pdf is rendered using Adobe Reader inside the mail view. Unfortnately it is impossible to save the pdf (button simply does not work) or preview the file outside the embedded view. It would be good to have a way of opening the attached file using Quicklook or saving it directly to the disk (directly from Mailmate, not via the embedded Adobe Reader)

I'm considering to disable inlining of PDFs completely. There are also
plans to change the way attachments are displayed (also making it more
obvious how to view or save them). That said, QuickLook should work for you (⌘Y) as well as Save
Attachments..., both in the Message menu.Do these menu items not work for you?

You are right, the shortcuts and saving via the menu work. I was looking for an icon inside the email - like with non-inline attachments - and then tried saving via the buttons in the embedded adobe reader (which don't work and is probably a fault of Adobe).
Thanks again for your quick help!Still I'd prefer a different handling as mentioned, especially if it involves being able to drag attachments from mails to Finder.

Good that is working for you.
Dragging attachments is covered by #83, so I'll close this ticket.
