Address completion gets confused with dashes

I create a new mail message and start typing in the To: field.
"foo"
I see a lot of matches with the prefix "foo-" pop up in the dropdown menu: foo-blah foo-something-else foo-awesomesauce, etc.
I type a "-" to continue so I can get to the right one.
I expected to just keep typing and the more I type the more they filter down to what I want.
What happens is the first one in the dropdown list is inserted and my "-" character shows up after it as the start of the next address.
This is on version: 1.8 (4447)
