How to add a link back to the message when forwarding

Reported by Sebastian P. | August 3rd, 2014 @ 10:51 PM

Hi,
I'm a huge mailmate fan and I'm using a nice automation with keyboard maestro to do certain (sometimes even complicated) tasks. There's one thing only that's a little bit annoying and I hope you have an idea how to solve it:

I forward emails I want to deal with later to my evernote address and archive it immediately -> inbox zero! (I don't use the built in function because it messses up the format sometimes). Evernote seems to filter out the block of forwarding information on top leaving me with the naked mail which is nice from the reading perspective but is quite annoying when I want to answer a message: It's always a pain to look for the right mail by searching a piece of text or the known subject etc.

Wouldn't it be possible to add a link back to the specific mail similar to the link I saw at the fantastical integration. Is there any way how to accomplish that?
That wouldn't only make my day, it would make my every business day ;-)

best regards from Germany,
Sebastian

What about using the Evernote command in MailMate instead?

    1. Enable 2.0 features in the General preferences pane.
    2. Update to the latest test version (not really necessary I think, but just to make sure): Hold down ⌥ when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane.
    3. Look for “Command ▸ Evernote ▸ Add...”.

Doing it with forwarded emails is tricky if Evernote removes the forwarding information (note quite sure what you mean by that though). If the headers are maintained then it would be possible to add a message: URL link I think. Unfortunately this set of headers is currently hardcoded in MailMate.

    Hi,
Thank you for your fast response!
I tried it but as I said, using the evernote "add with summary" messes up a lot of mails (html-mails) which forwarding as attachment does not.
The Information that get's deleted is the from:/to:/subject:/date: part. It seems like evernote hides that for "cleaner" notes.

Would it be very tricky to add a "copy link to this mail to clipboard" to the menubar under "message" for example? (similar to getting the link to a note in evernote) That'd be great and all I'd need to solve it.

    Thanks again,
    Sebastian

You might be looking for “View ▸ Copy as Link”?
