Quote level when selecting part of the text
Reported by Fredrik Jonsson | April 11th, 2014 @ 06:23 PM
Build: 4174
When I reply to a mail without selecting a part of the text all quote levels in the reply are correct.
Normally I select only the relevant part of the mail before I hit the reply button. When I do this in MailMate the quote levels are wrong.
What should look like this:
My original question
The reply
My follow up
Becomes like this instead:
My original question
The reply
My follow up
Fredrik

Does this always fail for you?
It probably depends on the format of the message. I don't use this feature myself, but I would expect to work well for plain text message and probably not so well for some HTML messages.

I have done some testing and think I have figured out when it happens.
Screenshot 1: This is how I first tried to select text when replying. This is when the quoting gets wrong.
Screenshot 2: Extending the selection so the format flow bar is selected makes the quoting levels correct.
So it works, but it's bit awkward and you must select whole paragrafs.
Anyway to make "Screenshot 1" scenario work?

Benny, I can reproduce the issue Fredrik describes consistently. If I want to select a portion of the e-mail to reply to, I must start my selection above the first line I want to quote to get the quote level correct.
I can reproduce this on
MailMate/4317 MacBookPro11,3/x86_64/8/10.9.3
with a message you sent me,Re: UI lag during operations worsened from 4214 => 4310
datedJune 17
.Some relevant headers from that message (the one I reply to):
Message-ID: <E8EF5DAF-40C0-4F3F-AD28-6543D9DF590B@freron.com> [...] Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Mailer: MailMate (1.8r4321)
If you wish to repro using this message, try highlighting the beginning of the third-to-last paragraph, starting with, "This is what I could copy/paste..."
Highlight to the bottom, excluding your signature, and hit reply. You should see everything at the same quote level, which is wrong.
Next, highlight the same text but start at the blank line above the "This is what..." line. You should see quote levels increased by one, which is correct.
