Frequent crashes now - Version 1.7.1 (3836) - on Mavericks 10.8.1

Reported by Lou Picciano | November 19th, 2013 @ 10:28 PM

Since updating - both MailMate and Mavericks to the above versions, seem to be getting very frequent crashes. Even so, this behavior is better than we're seeing with Mail.app, from which we cannot connect to our IMAP servers at all...

Complication: We are running custom IMAP servers, and are in the process of rebuilding those, too - so are trying to tease out several different variables at the same time.

Have plenty of debug info available, if this is helpful!

Looks like MailMate is crashing in the IMAP code when parsing a response from the server. I'll take a look at the code, but worst case I'll have to create a debug version which logs more data before the crash.

Can you, server side, see what the server sends to MailMate before the crash?

    Thanks for the feedback.

A quick check seems to indicate the problem is related to an EXISTS response with, perhaps, a huge number. MailMate doesn't catch it if that happens and tries to allocate the memory needed for it. (EXISTS reports the number of messages in a mailbox.) That might be a hint?
