Multiple identies including Display Name
Reported by Jon Stuart | August 20th, 2013 @ 01:36 AM
Hi,
Feature request /or/ I can't read the manual properly!
I'm looking to move from Thunderbird which has solid support for multiple identities. In this case that means that a single email account can send mail from a variety of different "From" addresses, which can be different in both 'display-name' and 'addr-spec' (using RFC2822 terms).
This allows me to send mail both as, for example, "Joe Bloggs joe@example.com" and "Operations ops@example.com".
MailMate only appears to support having multiple 'addr-specs' all sharing the same 'display-name' (see http://manual.mailmate-app.com/account_setup and the 'Edit Source > IMAP Account Settings' dialog).
In my example this means I can only send mail as "Joe Bloggs joe@example.com" and "Joe Bloggs ops@example.com" which isn't ideal for some team-based situations nor for some privacy-related ones too.
Please could MailMate consider extending the multiple identity support to include per-address Display Names, too? Everything else looks good so far :-)
Many thanks, jon.

It's in the manual. Maybe I didn't write it properly :-)
Quoting the manual: “If needed, an alternative name can be assigned to each address. Here is an example: “address1@example.com, Other Name address2@example.com”. The first address would be paired with the full name specified for the account, but the other address would be paired with the explicitly given alternative name: “Other Name”.”
In other words, you should be able to do like this:
Joe Bloggs <joe@example.com>, Operations <ops@example.com>
Thanks for trying out MailMate.
