Hide icon from Dock and show in menubar only
Reported by David | March 3rd, 2025 @ 11:55 AM
Hi there,
please consider to implement an option to hide the Dock icon, and only show MailMate in the Menubar.
Also, a Hotkey to toggle visibility.
(basically, just the same way many other apps do this...)
Thank you.

The interface is pretty bad but you should go into the Counters settings pane of MailMate. Then note that each dot represents a different counter (of the 4 possible counters). Enable/disable dock/menu counters for each of them to get your desired result.

Thank you for your reply @benny,
i was aware of that, and have disabled the "in Dock" checkbox for all 4 corners;
Unfortunately, the MailMate icon is still shown in the Dock...(without any of the "count dots".)

Ah, you want to completely get rid of the dock icon. Sorry, that's not possible and I think the combination of a menu and no dock icon is not easily supported.

Oh right i see.
Well hopefully you can add it to the roadmap as a feature request, as many (popular) apps are in my menubar right now, and have a checkbox "Hide from dock" in the settings. But i think you are aware of that already;
Anyways, so i assume there must be a way to do it...
Thank you!

Possibly, but I couldn't find anything in Apple's API (or with a quick Google search) which would remove the dock icon while preserving the main menu.
