mailmate rules

Reported by Amy | December 5th, 2021 @ 07:15 PM

Hi, is there someplace I can find a step-by-step on how to create rules? Specifically, I've been trying to have all incoming mail from a specific recipient get exported to Devonthink. I've tried a bunch of different combinations (applying the rule directly to the Mailmate inbox, creating a smart mailbox and applying the rules to that, applying conditions under the "Conditions" tab, applying conditions under the "Rules" tab. None quite work the way I intend. Some configurations are giving me duplicate entries in DT, and all are showing up in DT renamed with a random string of numbers.
Thanks for any help.

I'm afraid the manual is very brief on rules, but it seems like you have the basics under control. It sounds like you have two possibly unrelated problems:

    • Duplicate entries
    • Badly named entries

I would expect the latter to also happen if you use the “Command” menu to run the DevonThink command. Maybe we should focus on that first? Is it reproducible without using rules?

(To be clear, I haven't tried the DevonThink bundle myself for a very long time. It might be partly broken.)
