Source mailbox rename does not unsubscribe old name

This is a chronic nuisance that happens every time I rename an IMAP mailbox or create a new one. The IMAP server doesn't remove the old name (e.g. "Untitled" if it is new) from the Subscribed list when it is removed and the Edit IMAP Account->Edit Subscriptions UI doesn't show the old name because it is no longer in the list of existing mailboxes. If I try to delete the ghost mailbox in MM, it refuses because the IMAP server says the mailbox is already deleted.
I'd guess that any DELETE or RENAME should be preceded by an UNSUBSCRIBE, which should fix the problem.
