drafts for every sent message

Reported by George Dew | September 27th, 2012 @ 01:28 AM

Seems to be occurring recently: all (or most?) sent messages appear in the drafts folder shortly after they are sent. I then need to go in and manually delete them. The same messages appear in the Sent folder.

Background:
After some problems I correctly set up the "special" folders - inbox, trash, etc. - and the others are working okay, but drafts has this strange behaviour. My mail server is at godaddy.com, which some users have suggested can cause problems.

Unless others have reported the same problem, treat this as LOW priority. The workaround is to delete messages from drafts occasionally - not the worst problem I've had this week.

Could you try the latest test version of MailMate? You can fetch it by holding down ⌥ when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane.

The problem may be the server, but MailMate includes many workarounds for problematic servers and the problem triggering what you have observed might have been fixed.

Will be away from home and won't have time to test this thoroughly - will provide an update in a few weeks.

Am now running Version 1.4.3 (3034) and the behaviour seems consistent: creates a draft while editing the message, copies it to Sent Items after it is sent, but doesn't delete the draft.

What is the server address? (I can then try to connect and see if I know it.)

Is it a server for which I can create a test account?

It's a hosted server - I can create an account for you. How do I send login info without making it public?

There is an email link on the contact page. Thanks!

Just a short update: I've created the account and sent a test message. For me, the message simply stayed in Drafts after being sent (it seemed to fail moving it). So, I can at least reproduce some similar unexpected behavior and I'll look into fixing that.

Another update: It seems to be two different issues (what I saw and what you reported). I found your problem as well and I've fixed. It was an important bug to fix in general and not just for you :-) Thanks.

You'll have to wait a bit for a new test version.

Let me know if I can delete the test account on my mail server. If necessary I'll leave it open until this ticket is marked closed.

You can close the account now or when you have verified that my fix works for you as well. You'll have to wait a bit more for a test version.
