Selecting multiple emails causes the app to hang (pinwheel)

If I select a number of unread messages in the message pane, it seems like Mailmate freezes (with the spinning pinwheel and the app locking up) for a period of time which seems relative to the number of selected messages.

It seems like this happens even with "small" numbers of messages, starting at about 50 on this M1 MacBook Pro.

This is fairly common behaviour, for example when I receive a number of automated messages that I want to mark all as read.

Ideally I'd want to just select all of the messages, then right click > mark as read (or use the keyboard shortcut). The hang seems to happen before I right click, after the selection is made, so it's not even possible to just fire the command off with the keyboard shortcut.

    I did try to capture a video of this, but Quicktime Player doesn't seem to show the pinwheel on screen recordings so it's difficult to get an idea of how it's hanging.
