Cannot turn off incoming-message sound

I have disabled the sound under counters set to NONE. But yet I still get that sound for new messages. Is there a way to stop the madness? I have tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling still having the same issue.

Issues still persist with latest beta release (MailMate Version 1.14 (5757)) on macOS 11.2.1 (20D74)

Sorry about the late reply. Two things to note: 1. The Counters preferences pane is a bit weird and is actually an interface for 4 counters. Make sure all have sounds disabled. 2. In the past, some users have installed SpamSieve, but they are unaware that it has its own sound preferences for new emails.

Found the resolution. It was a spam sieve bug. Even though the sound option was disabled it kept defaulting to being enabled. Had to fully uninstall the application and its extensions to get everything to operation correctly.
