MailMate blocks in the presence of connectivity problems
Reported by Dirk Kutscher | November 25th, 2019 @ 09:51 AM
(This may be related to the already reported sluggish behaviour issue.)
MailMate consistently blocks the whole application in the presence of connectivity problems. I noticed it when composing a new message -- it's almost unusable. MailMate does not accept keyboard input during these phases.
It correlates to the observed performance of other applications (e.g., web browser), so it really looks like to be caused by the way MailMate manages network access.
Didn't notice this earlier -- not sure it was caused by the Catalina upgrade or by an MailMate update.

And the problem does not seem limited to just composing messages. Sometimes you can't even get MailMate back to foreground (give it focus) when it's apparently blocking on some network access activity.

It's actually not MailMate, but macOS which contacts a server for notarization checks every time MailMate executes an external script (which it does a lot). This is especially bad on slow internet connections. Try the latest test release and let me know if it does not help: Hold down option when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane.

Thanks for the quick fix! I tried on a bad connection and didn't notice any issues. :-)
