Show IMAP Keywords to avoid needing to sync tags between computers
Reported by Seamus | October 23rd, 2019 @ 04:05 PM
This is related to #430 and #906.
My use case is multiple people tagging messages in the same (shared) mailbox.
Currently each person using the mailbox needs to add a Tag manually for it to be visible at all.
I see mentioned in #906 (and the Docs) that the IMAP Keyword is synced via IMAP but the Display Name is not. For me these are the same strings (i.e. no complex Display Names). What would be helpful in my case is if MailMate could use the synced IMAP Keyword as the Display Name by default, thereby making the IMAP Keywords (that haven't been explicitly set as Tags) visible on that computer.
Something along these lines could potentially save the need for any syncing of Tags, and if people wanted to alter Display Names or Icons locally then they still can.
Thanks

I have played around with MailMate some more and keep finding it is more powerful than I think! I found some features that help with the above use case, they may be useful for others so have noted them here:
- When browsing the 'Raw Flags' column lists all IMAP keywords
- When using submailboxes by Tags you can also select 'Tags/Keywords' which will display all IMAP keywords
- When editing Tags in the Tag editor you can click the IMAP Keyword field to get a drop down of all IMAP Keywords in use
- All of the above include all IMAP Keywords including the ones prefixed by \ or $, but do include Tags not in your own Tag list (which is what I wanted).
So the feature I was requesting is sort of there already. The complexity of it which I did not appreciate is that there are quite a number of other 'hidden' IMAP Keywords that then show up!
A feature that would help is if in the above three scenarios there was a way to filter tags to exclude standard ones e.g. all prefixed by \ or $. Or of course a way to sync Tag Lists as #430.
Thanks
