Chronic repeating metadata importer crashes with r6139

My system: MailMate/6139 iMac17,1/x86_64/8/10.13.6
Since updating to r6139 I have had repeated crashes of "mdworker" processes running the MailMateSpotlight.mdimporter. It appears to be happening when a new message is saved, but it is not every message that causes a crash. I can identify problematic messages and reproduce the crash with the mdimport utility but I have not identified a single common feature that is unique to the problematic messages.
I will send some of the CrashReporter dumps (all sent to Apple) in email via "Send Feedback" shortly, as I am unable to upload files to this ticket directly.
