Bug? MM Crashed in the AM

Reported by Annamarie Pluhar | November 7th, 2018 @ 11:42 AM

For the last two - maybe three mornings when I go to my computer MM has crashed. Now it may be that i shouldn't leave everything up and running and SHOULD close things down - but I haven't and this seems to me to be new behavior since the lastest update. I'm attaching the log file that could have been sent to Apple. HTH

This is a consistent issue in the AM. It doesn't happen when simply waking up the computer from sleep.

I get what is probably the same issue, every morning when starting to use my computer (which stays on 24/7) mailmate has frozen and I have to force quit it. Crash log attached.

This is not a known issue. The samples do not appear to tell me much, but since it's a new issue then it is likely to be related to a recent change. (It's not Mojave since you have not upgraded.)

@Annamarie: It should, of course, not be a problem to let MailMate run through the night.

Could you both try updating to the latest test release just to make sure that I haven't implicitly fixed the issue? Hold down option when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane.

Curiously since commenting above it hasn't happened again. I have no idea what changed, if anything and I didn't update MailMate. I'll follow up again if it resumes being a problem.

    • State changed from “new” to “cantreproduce”

Ok, I'll mark this as cantreproduce for now, but let me know if it happens again.

Likewise I haven't experienced it recently. Something got fixed. : ) Isn't that nice?

@Annamarie: Well, I'm a bit worried when I don't really know what (might have) changed :) But thanks for the update!

This has returned for me, last two mornings I've had to Force Quit MailMate as it's been frozen, stuck on 100% cpu.

Do you have any suggestions for debugging? I can't seem to reproduce it on demand which is annoying.

I'm not particularly familiar with mac development, but I know windows and *nix quite well, so I'm happy to help if possible.

    Thanks.

@Daniel: At first I'd like to find out if the issue is somehow related to updating accounts/mailboxes. If it happens every (or almost every) night then you could try taking the accounts offline during the night. In fact, you might not need to have it hang if part of the problem is also a severely increased usage of memory. You could see if keeping them offline during the night also keeps the memory usage in check.
