add check frequency option to smart mailboxes

Reported by Robert Brenstein | September 11th, 2017 @ 09:53 AM

I have many smart mailboxes which use the "date-received is (not) within last ..." as one of the conditions. A few of those check for old messages in the trash, I delete after x months, or for old mailing list posts, which I apparently did not care to check within past x months. In those cases, having MM checking the timestamps all the time seems like an overkill. Once or twice a day would suffice. I therefore suggest to add a new parameter for the "date-received is (is not) within last ..." condition that allows us to set the frequency of the checks. I trained myself to wait until the count in those mailboxes exceeds 100 before I act, but it would also make my maintenance simpler (less cognitive effort, if you will) if I had to attend to those mailboxes only once a day, for example.

    • State changed from “new” to “accepted”

This is already on my todo. I usually call it “dynamic rules” in the sense that they are always “watched”. They should behave just like if a separate smart mailbox was created with the conditions of the rule (and then this smart mailbox could have a conditions-free action). This is also the workaround you can currently use. (Note that the workaround has the drawback of not being triggered if MailMate is closed when the conditions are met.)

I'll update this ticket if this feature is added.
