How to group mails by sender?
Reported by Benjamin | April 16th, 2017 @ 09:27 AM
Hey, I am quite new to using MailMate, so please excuse if the solution to my problem is easy and obvious.
Is there a way to »group« my mails by sender/contact?
In my imagination, this would give me a list of contacts I have sent or received messages to/from, sorted by the timestamp of the last mail of conversation. Clicking on a contact would then open the conversation view with all the threads that exist regarding that chosen contact.
How can I achieve this?
Thanks in advance,
Benjamin

The “Submailboxes” feature in the mailboxes editor would allow you to separate emails based on “Correspondent”, but this would only take you part of the way. What you really need is a different threading mode and this is unfortunately still a part of MailMate which is not very flexible. The good news is that when I do get around to adding an alternative to the current strict threading mode of MailMate then I believe it would also be fairly easy to add what you are asking for.
I'll update this ticket when/if that happens. Thanks for the feedback.

No, I've done a bit of work on the low-level parts of threading needed for this to work, but the GUI cannot utilize it yet.
