Creating an email from a mailto link

Markdown and signature insertion is not quite right when an email is created with a mailto link.

If I click this mail to link

<a href="mailto:x@y.com?cc=x1@y.com&amp;body=some%20text&amp;subject=some%20topic">link name</a>

My pertinent settings are:

  • Markdown:
    • Enable Composer Menu
    • Enable markdown for new messages
    • Generate HTML body part

  • Signatures

    • Default signature placement bottom

  • The initial message created by the mailto link has:

    • All the information in the right place
    • The cursor at the start of the message body.
    • The message is plain text
    • There is no signature.

  • When I then touch in the "To:" field

    • The message is changed to markdown
    • A signature is added at the top, and the body text is below the signature

What I would expect to have happen:
* All the information in the right place * The cursor at the start of the message body.
* The message is in markdown * The signature is below the body text.

    I also noticed that the from address is ignored for mail to links. I have the "New Message: Default account is" "derived from context". If from is specified in a mailto linkx, it seems to me it should be used.

    After reading about 'from' further, it seems that it may not be possible. I use this to generate email from my own website to clients, and I want to be able to choose one of many possible email addresses.

    Is there any sort fo script I can create to run on a email before sending it to make sure that I've made all changes to email address (and other stuff possibly).

    For example: I could have a line in the beginning of a message I should adjust the email with like:
    ***** DON'T FORGET TO CHANGE from address *****

    A script would scan the email and not send it if the string "***** DON'T FORGET TO CHANGE" was in the email.

    I tried adding "DON'T FORGET" to the attachments screening and it did not warn me.
