Two Issues

Reported by Jeremy Hunter | November 11th, 2015 @ 10:45 PM

Hi, I'm having two issues:

1) I delete messages in mailmate but they are not deleting on the mail server. These are all IMAP accounts, it was not always this way.

2) My sent messages is not accurate. It does not contain sent messages from all accounts for some reason even though that account is listed in the sent messages. Specifically for the mailbox Convenient Gadgets.

Please advise.

looks like the sent messages are resynching. problem #1 still exists tho across multiple accounts with different service providers

If this is a problem with a Gmail account then try the latest test version of MailMate: Hold down ⌥ when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane.

If it's not then look under SOURCES in the mailbox outline and make sure all mailboxes are online (no errors in parenthesis with the mailbox names).

Hi Benny, as ALREADY stated in my ticket this is not specific to my Gmail account. The messages i delete in mailmate are not being deleted in the mailbox. This is multiple IMAP mailboxes from multiple different email providers, gmail, rackspace, godaddy.

All of the mailboxes are online, of course. Otherwise I wouldn't be getting any email and thus have nothing to delete.

    Please advise.

It's not that simple. When synchronizing the deletion of an email then it requires both the source mailbox and the destination mailbox to be online. In other words, your INBOX may be online and new messages are arriving, but the deletions cannot be completed if the destination mailbox is not online. MailMate is also very careful in the sense that it won't delete anything in the source mailbox until it is certain that the message exists server-side in the destination mailbox. (This ensures a local disaster won't result in loss of emails.)

Now, given that this is a problem across multiple account then I guess offline destination mailbox(es) is unlikely to be the problem. I'll need you to do the following to learn more:

    • Open the Activity Viewer (⌥⌘0).
    • Delete a message in an Inbox.
    • Wait a few seconds.
    • Use “Help ▸ Send Server logs”.

I can then review what MailMate does and does not do.

Note that you can enable the UID column in the messages outline. A message with a UID exists on the server. A message without a UID does not exist on the server (in the current mailbox). The “Source Mailbox” column might also be useful.

(Many of my users just have a bunch of Gmail accounts. I couldn't be certain this wasn't the case here. I'm sorry if I should have known this from earlier correspondence.)
