Crash when trying to display child mailboxes of "All Messages"

Reported by Jon Phipps | May 20th, 2015 @ 02:25 PM

I have quite a few (wish I could tell you how many) smart mailboxes setup under All Messages and now with the latest update (R5090) trying to expand All Messages to display children causes MailMate to crash. This is consistent and repeatable and happened immediately after the update to R5090. Everything else seems to be working normally.

I'm not entirely certain that it's just R5090 though, since when I installed it I also used your symlink technique to move the Messages folder into a Spotlight indexable location.

Mailmate reports 403,498 messages (38,405 unread) in the All Messages folder.

I doubt this is fixed, but could you try r5091 just to be sure. Also, check to see that it still works for r5084 (you can hold down ⇧ when clicking “Check Now” to get that).

The crash reports are not very informative. I think the problem might be that some invalid string is generated somewhere. It's a bit strange that it happens when expanding All Messages. Does any of the smart mailboxes use the “Submailboxes” feature?

It might help if I can take a look at this file (send via Help ▸ Send Feedback):

    ~/Library/Application Support/MailMate/Mailboxes.plist

The most likely problem in r5090 are some changes to how certain headers are parsed.

    Still broken in r5091
    Works ok in r5084

Sent you the plist and a screenshot of the expanded folders in r5084 via feedback.

    Great stuff BTW :-)
