IMAP folders set to manual, still checking frequently

Reported by Louis Beaudoin | April 23rd, 2015 @ 01:47 PM

I have a Gmail and Google Apps Mail account. I want to synchronize the inbox specifically (but all folders is fine too) only manually to try to curb my habit of switching to MailMate to see if there's anything new when I should be focusing.

I first set the synchronization schedule for each INBOX folder to manual, that didn't help, I still am getting new mail automatically. I then went through each folder under Sources including each IMAP account and set Synchronization Schedule to manual. That didn't help. As I'm typing this I see the larger Google Apps account (82k emails in Archive) keeps syncing with a busy icon appearing over the folders a few times a minute. I don't notice the Gmail account syncing but if I right click on Inbox and view Syncronization Schedule, it says "now" or "8 seconds ago" or something recent.

This may be unrelated, I'll open up a new issue for it, but my Google Apps account frequently says "(unavailable)" for the IMAP account and all folders then there's a busy indicator on the IMAP account, followed by busy indicator on a few folders, and it's back. I haven't noticed any missing emails while searching.

    • State changed from “new” to “accepted”

“Manual” only means that MailMate does not regularly check for new emails. MailMate is still going to synchronize on certain events, e.g., when selecting a mailbox. It sounds like you want some kind of “do not disturb” feature. I already have this on my todo, but I don't think there is a ticket for it. I'll put this in the “accepted” state for tracking any progress on this (don't expect it soon).

Good to know, I'll looking forward to a DND feature in the distant future!

I would also really like this feature. I want to decide when I check for new mail.

    What's the status on this?

    Thanks!
