full text search
Reported by Balder ten Cate | January 25th, 2014 @ 05:10 PM
I'd love to have an option for full text search in old
emails.
Right now, as far as I understand I can only search in specific
headers, or in quoted body text, or in unquoted body text, not
in all at the same time.
Also, ideally I would bind a single key combination to the
following sequence
of action: 1. open a new window, and 2. in the new window, do a
full text search in All Messages. This would save me some
keystrokes
every time i want to search (and it would allow me to still access
my
inbox or the message that i was in the middle of writing,
before
i'm done with the search.
Thank you.

You can use “Common Headers and Body” for searching. You can also make this the default using “Edit ▸ Find ▸ Use as Default Search”.
Your second request could be done using the following custom key binding:
"A" = ( "newMessagesViewerWindow:", "searchAllMessages:");
(That's bound to ⇧A).
