full text search

Reported by Balder ten Cate | January 25th, 2014 @ 05:10 PM

I'd love to have an option for full text search in old emails.
Right now, as far as I understand I can only search in specific
headers, or in quoted body text, or in unquoted body text, not
in all at the same time.

Also, ideally I would bind a single key combination to the following sequence
of action: 1. open a new window, and 2. in the new window, do a
full text search in All Messages. This would save me some keystrokes
every time i want to search (and it would allow me to still access my
inbox or the message that i was in the middle of writing, before
i'm done with the search.

Thank you.

    • State changed from “new” to “resolved”

    You can use “Common Headers and Body” for searching. You can also make this the default using “Edit ▸ Find ▸ Use as Default Search”.

    Your second request could be done using the following custom key binding:

    "A" = ( "newMessagesViewerWindow:", "searchAllMessages:");

    (That's bound to ⇧A).
