Sort Order Keeps Changing Every Launch

I have my sort order on my inbox set to show me the latest messages at the very top. It has been this way for years. Now, every time I quit and re-launch, the sort order defaults to showing my oldest messages at the top. I keep changing it, but it won't stick with my preferred sort order.
