'From' Header in Sent Mail

Reported by D Yates | March 18th, 2018 @ 10:18 PM

How is the 'From' Header generated for a sent mail? I expected that the label part of the header would match the Description in the IMAP Account settings, but it doesn't. For one of my email addresses, I want it to show as 'D Yates' email@domain.com, but the 'D Yates' is instead showing up as my full name in lower case. I can't figure out where that is coming from. I am using Version 1.11 (5462). Many thanks.

I assume you meant to write “Full Name” and not “Description” in the account settings?

In that case, I'm thinking maybe the “Email Address(es)” field in the settings accidentally includes a name part? (It's possible to specify names for specific email addresses in this field, but most often it should just be a single email address.)

If that doesn't help then send me your .plist files from the following folder (using “Help ▸ Send Feedback”):

    /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/MailMate/*.plist

    Thanks in advance.

Yes, that last part is correct. It should not be more complicated than that.

Yes, X-Mailer is always generated. (There's a hidden preference to disable it, but I prefer that it's not used, because it makes it easier to determine if MailMate generated a faulty message.)

Let me know if the issue is not resolved.
