  I assume you meant to write “Full Name” and not “Description” in the account settings?

  In that case, I'm thinking maybe the “Email Address(es)” field in the settings accidentally includes a name part? (It's possible to specify names for specific email addresses in this field, but most often it should just be a single email address.)

  If that doesn't help then send me your .plist files from the following folder (using “Help ▸ Send Feedback”):

  /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/MailMate/*.plist

  Sorry, I did mean to write "Full Name". The "Email Address(es)" field does not contain a name part (although I might use that as a feature in the future!).

  Does an email generated by MailMate always contain the header field X-Mailer: MailMate (...version...)? If so, looks like I am a complete idiot and the sent email with the bad From header was generated by a different mail programme (probably Mail on my iPhone). Sorry for wasting your time.

  Is it correct that MailMate generates the From field using first the entries in "Email Address(es)" and if there is no name part, then using the "Full Name" entry? Or is it more complicated than that?

  Yes, that last part is correct. It should not be more complicated than that.

  Yes, X-Mailer is always generated. (There's a hidden preference to disable it, but I prefer that it's not used, because it makes it easier to determine if MailMate generated a faulty message.)

  Let me know if the issue is not resolved.
