Command 0/(' error on today's update

Reported by Gustavo D Villarreal | November 23rd, 2016 @ 05:35 PM

Since applying today's update, I couldn't send any emails. Activity viewer mentioned network timeouts, after showing a successful SSL connection. I checked our email server (Kerio) and it showed these messages when I tried to send something:

[23/Nov/2016 09:25:03][6760501248] {smtps} Sent SMTP greeting to 189.207.89.104:55472 [23/Nov/2016 09:25:03][6760501248] {smtps} Command [23/Nov/2016 09:25:03][6760501248] {smtps} Command 0/(' [23/Nov/2016 09:25:03][6760501248] {smtps} Command [23/Nov/2016 09:25:03][6760501248] {smtps} SMTP server session end

I restored the previous version of MailMate (1.9.5 5263) and mails started sending again. I haven't tried reinstalling the newer version again, or tried with other SMTP servers.

Could you try adding a p to the port number for SMTP in the IMAP account editor?

    E.g., 465p instead of 465.

    Benny,

Adding the 'p' makes it work again. Is this a temporary workaround or should I add the 'p' to my other SMTP server configs?

    Thank you.

Only add it if you have a specific issue with an SMTP server (you should at least have no issues with ports 25 and 587 — the issue only affects non-standard ports). I'll be looking into fixing the issue, but I cannot provide a time frame.

Hold down ⌥ when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane. I've tried to fix the issue, but it's a bit tricky to test, because other servers with other non-standard ports may behave slightly different.

I too had a problem with an SMTP problem on port 2525 and 5307. Updated to 5309 and it started working again. So just to let you know that whatever you fixed, worksforme.
