Organize by subject / Merge threads / Parent threads?
Reported by fnurl | February 13th, 2016 @ 12:14 PM
Sometimes, I get different thread-ids on messages that have forked (I believe):
e.g. if I am sender A:
- A composes new message
msg1sending to B, C, D and E- B replies to
msg1withmsg2sending to A, C, D, E- D replies to
msg2withmsg7sending to A, B, C, E
- D replies to
- C replies to
msg1withmsg3sending to A- A replies to
msg3withmsg4sending to C
- A replies to
- B replies to
- D forwards
msg1asmsg4sending to F - F replies to
msg4withmsg5sending to A, B, C, D, E- E replies to
msg5withmsg6sending to A, B, C, D, F
- E replies to
If I am A, I am involved in be getting the following messages:
msg2,msg7,msg3,msg4,msg5,msg6
These will however not all belong to the same thread-id if I am correct? But they would have similar subject lines (Re: / Fwd: original subject). Is it possible to manually merge thread-ids?
Otherwise, in the future, perhaps it would be possible to do some of the following:
- have an option to "Organize by Subject"
- have an option to "Organize by Thread and Subject" and/or
- implement a
parent-thread-idfor eachthread-id?

Something like “Organize by Subject” is still planned (group threading), but I haven't worked on it yet.
(What you describe is currently expected behavior due to the strict threading model in MailMate.)
