Request: Add “Source Account” as a column option
Reported by Eric A. Meyer | December 9th, 2014 @ 05:00 PM
It would be useful to have “Source Account” as
a default option in the list of columns. I’ve already
custom-added it to my MailMate install following the instructions
given in
http://freron.lighthouseapp.com/projects/58672/tickets/804-mailbox-...
(thanks, Benny!), but it seems useful in a lot of cases, so I
figured it was worth submitting here as an enhancement request. If
there’s a better way to add it than hacking
MailMate.app/Contents/Resources/MmMessagesOutlineView/outlineColumns.plist
,
please let me know.
I’m currently using it in a Smart Mailbox that shows me all unread messages from the past two days, and all flagged messages from the past two months, in all of my Inboxes. So “Source Mailbox” was clutter-y, because all of them started with “INBOX - ” and then the account name. Switching to “Source Account” saved space and made it easier to see what I wanted. I can imagine a number of Smart Mailbox cases where it would come in very handy.

I agree that this would be useful in general. The main problem was that
#source-name
was implemented as quite a hack and, e.g., sorting in the messages outline did not work. I've now refactored the related code to fix this and added “Source Account” to the default set of columns. This is not released yet and when it is then it's likely to only be available in the 64 bit beta releases until they fully replace the 32 bit release. Read more about that here.
