SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:unknown protocol on send...
Reported by George Neville-Neil | October 26th, 2014 @ 08:17 PM
I am now running the latest MailMate, Version 1.8 (4576), on Yosemite. I am having problems sending mail due to the above listed error.
I can send mail via the same server using Mail.app on Yosemite.
How shall we track this down?
Best,
George

Let me know your SMTP settings (server address) and I can try connecting to the server myself. (The error happens before authentication.)

I do not have problems connecting to the server with or without MailMate.
You can open a Terminal window and see if it works for you without MailMate:
openssl s_client -connect mail.neville-neil.com:587 -starttls smtp
Make absolutely sure your settings are correct (File ▸ Edit IMAP Account ▸ …).

I have this annoying feeling that the hotel I was in earlier today was messing with outgoing connections. I will be able to test tomorrow and reply back again. I am now on a network where, indeed, everything is working as expected.

I've been using MailMate all morning in the same Hotel as I was having problems in yesterday. All is well. Please close this ticket and apologies for the noise.
